We are pleased to welcome sailor and adventurer Pete Goss MBE, who will open this year’s Newlyn Fish Festival.
‘Spirit of Mystery’ will be named and blessed at the Festival in preparation for her forthcoming voyage. The Spirit of Mystery is a replica of a 37ft Cornish Lugger called ‘Mystery’ in which seven brave Cornishmen sailed from Newlyn to Australia 154 years ago. Times were hard and the seven Cornishmen, all related by either blood or marriage, made the decision to try their luck at the Australian gold rush over a pint in the Star Inn.
Award winning book producing partnership Author Carol Trewin and Photographer Adam Woolfitt will be at Newlyn Fish Festival to sign their books which are raising funds for the fishing industry.
Cornish Fishing & Seafood combines the words and experiences of local fishermen, auctioneers, processors and fish merchants. The book, written by Carol Trewin with photography by Adam Woolfitt, is a stunning example of quality Cornish literature.
The Newlyn Fish Festival celebrates the Cornish Fish Industry on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August, amongst the wonderful surroundings of Cornwall’s largest fishing port. Don't miss it!
