ON THE EVE OF THE FESTIVAL

Sunday evening before the festival brings our fishing community together to formally acknowledge what the work of the festival’s patron, the Fishermen’s Mission, is all about – serving the needs fishermen be they physical, mental or financial in the event of accident, infirmity or misfortune.

6:45pm: Join the festival crew on Newlyn Green as they gather together to lay the Newlyn Fish Festival wreath of remembrance at the feet of ‘Tom”, the memorial to all those fishermen lost at sea.

7:00pm: The Fishermen’s Mission will host their traditional ‘Blessing of the Fleet’ and remembrance service in the harbour fishmarket.

8:00pm: Last Night of the Cornish Proms: Cornish flags provided!

Sunday evening sees The Centre on Chywoone Hill host the Last Night of the Cornish Proms – a celebration of Cornish songs and singers including the soloists, Hannah Pascoe and William Thomas along with the big voices of St Ives Community Choir. Enjoy all this with a pasty and cuppa all included in the £6 entrance fee!

Open from: 09:00 to 17:00 – last entry at 16:30
Admission: £5.00 (free entrance for children under 16) tickets at the gate. (Fishermen’s complimentary tickets available from the CFPO office.)
Disabled: Full disabled access aside from vessels.
Parking: Newlyn Green, Sports Ground along the Coombe just before Stable Hobba.
Children: Follow the Fishy Trail, Jamie Olive Oil, the Fish Tales Tent, The Learning Zone in the Fish Market and other entertainment.
Toilets: By the Mission building at the entrance and temporary toilets throughout the Festival.
Buses: 1, 1A, 5, 5A, 6, 6A from Penzance Station
